If certain words trigger or annoy you, follow these steps to stop seeing them. We’ll break down a strategy you can try to stop seeing certain words on Facebook.

How to Disable Specific Words on Your Facebook Page

While you can’t block certain words on your Facebook feed, you have more control over your page. Use this strategy to identify keywords you don’t want to see. To automatically remove harmful or annoying words from your page, follow these steps:

  • Once you log in to Facebook on a computer, select the down arrow or press your profile icon top right.
  • From there, tap or click Settings and Privacy.
  • Then hit Settings.

This takes you to a new page aptly called Settings.

  • On the left, select Profile and marking.
  • Then select Hide comments containing certain words from your profile.

A drop-down menu will appear. Now you can disable up to 1,000 keywords.

  • Type the word you don’t want to see. If you want to disable multiple words simultaneously, insert a comma between them.

Remember the Wordle example from earlier? Let’s say you want to stop your friends from posting their Wordle results on your wall. just type wordle and press enter.

You can even block phrases and emojis. Here’s what it looks like when you disable a word on your page:

  • Hit to safeguard once you have finished.

Just know that you have the ability to view posts. You may notice a message that a comment has been hidden. Select the To display button to view this comment.

This way you can reveal some comments. But all other comments with the word muted will be blocked until you re-post them.
