Pinterest users can now share idea pins on Facebook, Instagram, and more.

Starting today, all Pinterest users can download and share Idea Pins posted on other social media platforms. These Idea Pins will be uploaded as a watermarked video that assembles all of the Idea Pin pages and ends with an end card that displays the creator’s name and username.

For those unfamiliar, Idea Pins are Pinterest’s native post format that was first introduced to creators in 2020 and rolled out globally in 2021. Idea Pins are a canvas for multiple pages to share ideas and tutorials with others.

In Pinterest’s “Watch” tab, Pinners find a full-screen feed of Idea Pins to scroll through and interact with content from brands and creators.

Pinterest also shared some best practices for Idea Pins:

  1. Informative and actionable – Use videos, images, text to guide people through the steps and make it easy for them to take action on the idea.
  2. Use video – Video is great for telling a story and connecting with the audience. Start with a video on the first page. This is your best chance to stand out and attract your audience.
  3. Make it personal – Idea pins are not intended for sterile and neat content. Make your brand voice shine with our editing tools like stickers, music controls, video filters, and more.
  4. Pinterest Profile Highlights – With profile highlights, creators can also add idea pins to the top of their profile, allowing them to show off their most engaging and immersive idea pins.
