macOS 12.1 fixes bugs affecting loading MagSafe, YouTube HDR, MacBook Pro notch, etc.

In addition to releasing macOS 12.1 RC for developers today, which gives us a preview of all the new features and changes coming soon to the public, the update release notes also include a list of bug fixes. important, three of which affect the 2021 MacBook Pro.

With the arrival of macOS 12.1 RC, we’ve learned that Universal Control may be delayed beyond the “later this fall” date Apple previously shared.

It also includes support for SharePlay, Apple Music Voice plan, and updates for Photos, Messages, Siri & Search, Apple ID, TV app, and more.

What is more meaningful to many Mac users, however, may be the big bug fixes that macOS 12.1 will bring. Apple confirmed in the 12.1 RC Release Notes that there are six major fixes:

  • Desktop and screensaver may appear blank after selecting photos from photos library
  • The trackpad may stop responding to taps or clicks
  • External displays may not charge some MacBook Pro and MacBook Air computers when connected via Thunderbolt or USB-C
  • Playing HDR Videos on Could Panic 2021 MacBook Pro Computers
  • Menu bar extras may be hidden by the camera body on 2021 MacBook Pro computers
  • MagSafe may stop charging on 2021 16 inch MacBook Pro computers when the cover is closed and the system is shut down
