How to Hide Likes on Instagram: A Simple Step-by-Step Guide
As more research comes to light on the link between social media use and negative mental health outcomes in teens, some tech companies have made an effort to mitigate the negative impacts of their products.
Last year, Meta, formerly known as Facebook, announced that it would allow Facebook and Instagram users to hide likes and view counts on their own posts and those of other users.
Meta had been testing the feature since 2019 before a wider rollout last year. Not all users have access to the feature yet. But for those who do, here’s how to hide your likes on Instagram on Android and iOS apps.

How to hide likes on your feed
- Tap the menu bar in the upper right corner of your profile page and select “Settings”.
- Go to “Privacy”
- Select “Posts”
- Enable or disable “Hide likes and show counters”.
How to Hide Likes on Your Own Posts
In the last window before publishing an article, go to “Advanced settings” at the bottom. Here you can enable or disable “Hide likes and show count of this post”.
To turn on or off the like count for posts you’ve already published, navigate to the post and click the three dots in the top right corner. You will have the option to “Hide as account”.
