It’s not your imagination, Facebook and Instagram are down but it’s not just the Tri-Cities but the whole world.
It made me think about how addicted we have become to social media. I am able to write and publish this article on our website and app, but that’s about it.
If you are worried that it is a power outage, don’t worry. Facebook has already released a statement regarding the outage.
Andy Stone, Facebook’s communications director posted the following tweet:
We are aware that some people have difficulty accessing our applications and products. We are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
If you’ve tried accessing Facebook, Instagram, or Whatsapp, it will still load, but you will notice that the posts are a few days old. I believe the last post I have from Facebook was yesterday at 9:21 p.m. You may still receive an error message and you may have to wait a while for the platforms to be restored
At the radio station I can still write an article but I cannot post it on any of the Facebook platforms owned by 4 people.
According to Andy Stone, director of communications for Facebook says something with Facebook’s DNS records could be causing the problem. The domain name services have been rerouted from the global routing tables and Facebook is still trying to restore the services.
The only platform that is still operational is Twitter and people are enjoying all the attention on Twitter (if only for a little bit) and Twitter’s response was the best ever: hello literally everyone
The feedback from Tweets was hilarious.
