You know how one person does the group project and everyone just copies it? Instagram engineers must feel the same way.

Every time Whatsapp introduces a new feature, we end up saying, “Oh, that’s how we used to do Instagram/Facebook”. It seems that these Meta-owned platforms quite often use Ctrl+C followed by Ctrl+V.

Whatsapp is a messaging application used for business and personal purposes, but now it has become Instagram or Facebook. Whatsapp was a messaging app and it should have stayed the same.

Today Whatsapp is used for anything and everything other than just messaging. We see parents parents wedding photos, new phone bought by grocer uncle and so on on whatsapp status.

In 2016, “stories” (a Snapchat clone) were introduced to Instagram. Then the stories were copied and pasted on Whatsapp as “status” in 2017. As a result, the photos we have already seen on Instagram feed, Instagram stories, Facebook and Snapchat are now visible again on the status WhatsApp.

by GIPHY

As this cut-and-paste game continues at Meta HQ, we see some not-so-new updates on Whatsapp. Some of them are lifesavers like deleting messages. But others have made it difficult to distinguish between Whatsapp and Instagram. Over time, all Meta apps, especially Instagram and Whatsapp, have started to look similar and provide the same user experience.

But we don’t want this to happen more often in the future. Therefore, here is a list of Instagram features that were not required on Whatsapp and others that should be kept thousands of miles away from Whatsapp.

by GIPHY

INSTAGRAM FEATURES WE DON’T WANT ON WHATSAPP

1. Reactions to messages

Users are not really happy with this recently introduced Instagram feature on Whatsapp. You can now react to messages on Whatsapp like on Instagram. In addition, you can react to your own messages. (Are you laughing at your own jokes? If so, you know something is wrong)

On Instagram, we share posts, memes, and stories in chat with other users. A reaction button makes sense there. But on a messaging app, that’s not the case. Looks like the dev team just wanted to complete the mission anyway.

Since we now have this feature on Whatsapp, at least allow us to choose the reactions.

Option to react to messages on Whatsapp

2. Reels

One feature no one on this entire planet ever wants on Whatsapp is reels.

The reels on Instagram have been squeaky anyway. On top of that, YouTube and Snapchat also have short video formats now, like bad TikTok clones (if that was even possible).

Please, please never submit any reels to Whatsapp.

If this happens, we immediately need a new messaging platform.

3. Ability to Like Stories

Imagine uncles, aunts, parents of parents, your sabzi walaten-year-old school friends and others on your contact list reacting to your status.

This will lead to so much confusion and unnecessary and backup messages.

Therefore, let these developers know in advance: if this feature is in your KRA for the next month, remove it as soon as possible.

4. Display a single image

Instagram lets you share one view, two views, and keep image sharing options in chat (copied from Snapchat, again).

On Whatsapp, we used to directly share images that are saved in our gallery. But some time ago Whatsapp introduced single view image option in chat. Again I would ask, why?

First of all, we don’t require single view images on a messaging app. Also, this feature is useless because you don’t get a notification if the other person takes a screenshot and then it stays in their gallery.

by GIPHY

And last but not least…

5. Stories

Stories, known as status on Whatsapp, robbed him of his main purpose. Which FYI sends messages to people.

Remember, how we knew life updates from our friends and family on Facebook earlier? Now you see them on Whatsapp status (also).

Photos on Instagram are also everywhere in Whatsapp status now.

Moreover, birthday wishes via personal messages have also been replaced by Whatsapp status.

So even if you don’t want to see what people are up to these days, Whatsapp Status will force you to. Many also end up sharing their entire photo gallery on Whatsapp status.

Then there are those who use the app less for messaging (which is what it is intended for) and all that random Whatsapp status stuff.

Which of these features would you never want on Whatsapp?

Over the past week, many Instagram users have reported errors with the Facebook sharing feature.

As both Instagram and Facebook are owned by the same company, Meta, the platform has a nifty feature that automatically shares posts to your Facebook feed.

It’s a great tool that means you can share the same photo across both platforms quickly and easily, and it’s used by millions of users around the world.

However, Instagram posts don’t seem to be uploading to Facebook as usual this week, and users can’t figure out why. If this happens to you, find out how to fix it below…

Instagram posts are not shared on Facebook

Many Instagram users have taken to Twitter in recent days to complain that their Instagram posts are not being shared on Facebook.

After posting their Instagram photo, people report that the image is not shared on Facebook at all and is not visible anywhere on their profile.

A person wrote“Anyone having problems sharing #instagram for #Facebook when I post on Instagram, my posts are always shared on my Facebook. This morning it doesn’t work. I checked my settings, changed the passwords, tried again and it did nothing.

“Same, an update?” another responded while a third user added: “Same here! I took to Twitter to see if anyone else had the same problem.

As of this writing, Instagram hasn’t fixed the error, but it appears to be an issue on Instagram’s part.

Many have reported that their photos have now been posted on Facebook and have simply been delayed. However, if your messages are still not being shared, find some possible fixes below.

Try linking Facebook to Instagram

If your photos are still not being shared, reconnecting your Facebook account to your Instagram should fix the problem. Here’s how to do it…

  • Open Instagram and go to your profile.
  • Click on the three lines in the upper right corner and press “Settings”.
  • Tap on “Accounts” then on “Share with other apps”.
  • Tap “Facebook” and delete your profile from “Account Center”.
  • Then connect your Facebook profile to your Instagram again.

Other things to try

If that didn’t work, here are some other things that could potentially help…

First, try logging out of both apps and then logging back in, as that might fix the problem.

  • Delete both apps and open them again.

If that doesn’t work, completely delete the apps from your phone and download them again.

  • Change your Facebook password.

Changing your Facebook password and then reconnecting it to your Instagram account could be the solution.

  • Check that you are using the most recent versions.

Make sure you’ve updated the Facebook and Instagram apps to the latest version from the App Store.

As more research comes to light on the link between social media use and negative mental health outcomes in teens, some tech companies have made an effort to mitigate the negative impacts of their products.

Last year, Meta, formerly known as Facebook, announced that it would allow Facebook and Instagram users to hide likes and view counts on their own posts and those of other users.

Meta had been testing the feature since 2019 before a wider rollout last year. Not all users have access to the feature yet. But for those who do, here’s how to hide your likes on Instagram on Android and iOS apps.

Meta has disabled augmented reality filters for Facebook and Instagram in Texas and Illinois due to facial recognition and privacy laws in those states.

Although Metathe parent company of Facebook and instagram, said its AR technology is “not facial recognition,” it is temporarily shutting down its AR filters and avatars in both states to avoid “baseless and distracting litigation.” The decision comes a day after the ALCU won a settlement in Illinois against Clearview AI, a facial recognition company that sold its database to private companies.

Meta said it will create an opt-in experience to bring these AR effects back to its platforms soon. AR effects are also disabled on Messenger, Messenger Kids, Facebook, and Portal in Texas and Illinois.

The company claims that the technology it uses to create its AR effects and apps is not facial recognition technology and is not used for identification purposes.

“The technology we use to power augmented reality effects like avatars and filters is not facial recognition or any technology covered by the laws of Texas and Illinois, and is not used to identify who whatever,” Meta said in a statement. The company shut down your facial recognition system last year, erasing the face scan data of over a billion users.

Facebook has come under intense scrutiny over its facial recognition technology in recent years, with a judge awarding a historic $650 million settlement in favor of users in a class action lawsuit in Illinois last year. Texas is also sue the social media giant about his use of facial recognition technology, claiming he failed to properly obtain consent for biometric data from Texans, which violates state privacy laws.

Adobe’s Creative Cloud Express tool, originally designed for people who want to create impactful videos for social media, is now also ideal for publishing those videos.

A Tuesday update to Creative Cloud Express adds a feature called Content Scheduler that enables influencers, small businesses and others who want to post graphics and videos to Instagram, Twitter and Facebook with a single action. The tool, available only through the Creative Cloud Express web app at the moment, also allows you to preview posts and schedule their release in the future.

The tool handles some of the more complex aspects of social media posting, such as character count limits and auto-complete usernames. It’s available as a free tool, but a $10 per month subscription adds more fonts, templates, online storage, editing tools, and stock photos.

Adobe has benefited greatly from its move from licensing individual versions of software packages such as Photoshop and Lightroom to its Creative Cloud subscriptions. The free versions of some of its tools, like Lightroom and Creative Cloud Express, may attract people to subscription plans.

Creative Cloud Express is built for a time when advertising no longer means just buying ads, said Scott Belsky, Adobe product manager for Creative Cloud.

“Marketing budgets are rapidly shifting from traditional print and television to social media,” Belsky said.

Do you have a popup on instagram asking you to tell the application your birthday? If so, you are not alone, as several users on the internet report that Instagram asks users about their birthday. Concisely, the Meta-owned photo-sharing app requires users to enter their date of birth. And Instagram has a reason why it does it.
Here’s why Instagram asks you for your birthday
Instagram wants to reduce the number of minor users under 13, so it asks users for their birthdays. If you recall, Instagram never forced users to provide their date of birth when signing up for the app, which allowed minor users even under the age of 13 to sign up. However, about eight months ago, Instagram made the age verification process mandatory, and now it’s even stricter about it. It seems like a good decision to make the app safe for kids after the company dropped plans for an Instagram version for kids.
“Before you can continue to use Instagram, you must provide your date of birth, even if this account is for something like a business or a pet. This helps us protect young people in our community. We will also use your date of birth to personalize your experience, including ads. It will not be part of your public profile,” reads the Add Your Birthday on Instagram page.
Instagram uses data from Facebook to verify a user’s age
Also, it is no longer possible to bypass age verification because Instagram uses a Artificial intelligence (AI) Algorithm to detect fake birthdays. The Meta-owned photo-sharing app says it uses users’ Facebook data to cross-check the birthday entered by the user, and a user will only be able to sign up if the date of birth matches the date of birth. birth of facebook data .

Patiala: “Khalistan zindabad haiKhalistan zindabad rahega– it’s a common refrain in social media videos posted by Barjinder Singh Parwana, a self-proclaimed Sikh religious ‘influencer’ who was arrested by Punjab police on Sunday and dubbed one of the ‘masterminds’ of the clash community last Friday in Patiala.

Parwana, 38, was arrested at Mohali airport and remanded for four days two days after the violent altercation, which occurred when members of Hindu extremist groups leading a pre-planned ‘Khalistan Murdabad’ march in Patiala were confronted by radical Sikh groups. .

According to law enforcement sources, Parwana was a key leader of the Sikh protesters and rallied them days in advance via his Instagram Reels as well as Facebook and YouTube videos.

“Parwana had come under our scanner due to his social media posts inviting more and more people to join Patiala – how he managed to mobilize the crowds that day will be revealed once the investigation is complete. “, a police official told ThePrint. on condition of anonymity.

ThePrint has viewed videos in which Parwana can be seen urging his social media followers to protest the anti-Khalistan march organized by members of Hindu groups, allegedly including the Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray), the Punjab unit of the Maharashtra party.

For example, in an Instagram Reel posted on April 24, five days before the incident, Parwana urged his followers to “be ready” for April 29 – “Khalistan Foundation Day”, the day Hindu groups had planned their walk.

Expressing confidence that Chief Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nanak Singh (now transferred) would prevent the march, Parwana nevertheless presented a contingency plan: “If we have to unite, we will make a parikrama (circumambulation) around the Dukh Niwaran Gurudwara. We are going to run these monkeys (referring to the alleged Shiv Sainiks behind the rally), we are going to light flames in their tails,” he said.

Parwana’s arrest was criticized by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), a prominent body that manages gurdwaras. The SGPC argued that had the police taken preventive action, the clash would not have happened.

So who is Barjinder Singh Parwana and how many followers does he really command? ThePrint visited Parwana’s family members and neighbors in Rajpura town, Patiala district and scoured his social media posts to find out.

Founder of a jatha, budding religious “influencer”

Parwana is the leader of a jatha (religious group) called the Damdami Taksal Jatha Rajpura. His Facebook page, which has over 3.7 lakh followers, features many videos of Parwana presiding over devotional events and speaking about Khalistan.

In the days leading up to the march, however, Parwana posted messages against the local Shiv Sena and asked people to unite against anti-Khalistan forces.

On his personal social networks, which have a much smaller audience, Parwana shared similar content.

He was particularly active on Instagram, where he has around 40,000 followers, and used Reels – short videos featuring visual effects and music – to ask Sikhs to unite and protest the upcoming march. He also shared a similar video on YouTube.

Parwana, whose influence does not seem to extend much beyond Rajpura and Patiala in Punjab, has been promoting his ideas on religion for some years on social media. He also organized a quiz show called “Kaun Banega Pyare Da Pyara”, in which children were tested for their religious knowledge and rewarded accordingly. Many of his videos feature him saying “Khalistan Zindabad”.

According to Gurmeet Singh Sidhu, a professor of religious studies at the Punjabi University of Patiala, Parwana is one of many fringe rulers who operate in the state and rely on the populace to attract attention.

“Right-wing Hindus and Sikh hardliners have few supporters among ordinary people – they are not taken seriously here,” Sidhu said. “These guys keep fighting, posting provocative messages on social media just to get the instant fame they want.”

Did ‘seva’ during farmer protests, but under police scanner

When ThePrint visited Parwana’s family members and neighbors in Rajpura, they were shaken by his arrest and were hesitant to say too much about him.

On condition of anonymity, however, a family member shared that he was born in May 1984, a few weeks before Operation Blue Star, in which the Indian army opened fire in the temple complex. of gold from Amritsar to flush out the militants.

Young Parwana, like the other children in the neighborhood, had a pious but peaceful childhood and played ‘is going (service)’ from an early age, his family said.

“He visited the gurdwara daily. He would is going there and has always been involved in sangat. After school, his father brought forms to enlist him in the police, but he refused and instead left our home for religious studies and preaching,” a close family member said.

Parwana obtained her religious guardianship from the Damdami Taksal, a Sikh educational body located near Amritsar. This seminary was once known as a hotbed of activism but has since lost that reputation. In January this year, its leader Harnam Singh Dhumma joined the BJP ahead of assembly polls in the state.

According to reports, Parwana lived briefly in Singapore from 2007 to 2008, but returned to start his own religious organization.

In his neighborhood of Rajpura, most people spoke of Parwana in positive terms and said that he did a lot of is going during the 2020-21 farmers’ protests. His neighbors also found it hard to believe he could have incited violence, with some wondering that he had enough supporters to do so.

Distraught over his arrest, his family members said they wished he had used his oratory skills to spread a message of peace rather than conflict.

However, this is not the first time that Parwana has been embroiled in a dispute with the local Shiv Sena or has come to the attention of the police.

In July last year, Mohali police arrested him based on a complaint from a local Shiv Sena leader. At that time, when members of the Shiv Sena (Punjab) – one of many Punjab outfits with the same name – held an event to celebrate the anniversary of Operation Blue Star, Parwana is said to have torn one of their posters and said it would stir up hatred in Punjab. Following a complaint, he was later convicted under different sections of the IPC, including intent to cause riot.

In the case of the Patiala violence, police have so far arrested Parwana, Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) leader Harish Singla, and at least seven others.

When it comes to your digital footprint, most people like to put their best foot forward. You’ve probably pinned your most viral tweets to the top of your profile, added your best candids to your “Featured” album on Facebook, and saved your best-looking Instagram Stories to your highlights. Now, with a new feature potentially on the way to Instagram, you’ll soon be able to pin your favorite posts to your profile, too.

On April 26, Instagram confirmed to TechCrunch that the social media platform was testing a new profile pin feature among some users. (Bustle has reached out to Instagram for comment and will update this post when we have a response.) The feature would let you choose up to three posts to display at the top of your profile grid.

If you’re an Instagram regular, you know this can be a game-changer. After all, if you keep your grid up to date, some of your most valuable posts might have been buried under endless thumbnails of weekly photo dumps. Pinned posts are another way to maintain the vibe you hope visitors will get from your profile.

Maybe you want to make sure your crush has easy access to your favorite “That’s Them” photo. Or, you want to set the record straight for all detectives by placing your soft launch at the top of your profile. Maybe you just want to make sure everyone sees this Eat Pray Love-level trip you took last summer. With pinned posts, you decide what your first impression will be.

How does Instagram’s pinned post feature work?

Mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi shared a preview of the possible pinned posts feature on Twitter in January, explaining that users with access could pin up to three posts to display at the top of their profile. It appears from the photos that users could pin a post by hitting the settings and clicking “Pin to your profile”.

How do I pin a post?

If you have access to the feature, pinning posts to your profile is pretty straightforward. If anything, probably the hardest step will be deciding which three posts you want to pin. Once you’ve selected your most pinnable posts, head to each one and click on the three horizontal dots in the top right corner of the post. You can choose three photos, videos, or reels to pin to the top of your profile. As PC Mag reports, a “Pin to your profile” option will appear in the menu if you have the feature. Tap this button and the post will automatically appear at the top of your grid.

If you change your mind about your pinned posts, you can unpin a post by returning to the same menu and clicking “Unpin from your profile”.

Why can’t I pin posts on Instagram?

If you don’t see the option to pin a post, you probably don’t have access to the testing feature yet. Instagram often tests new features on a limited audience to see how they work (and if people are using them). Until the social media platform decides to spread pinned posts more widely, hold on tight and maybe try pinning your favorite stories to your highlights.

If you no longer wish to continue with Instagram’s services, it’s easy to delete your account on your iPhone. You can then optionally delete the Instagram app to free up your phone’s storage space. We’ll show you how to do that.

What Happens When You Delete Your Instagram Account

When you delete your account, Instagram deletes all data from your account, including photos, videos, comments, likes, and followers. According to Instagram, your data becomes inaccessible to you or others the moment you delete your account, but the platform won’t actually start deleting data internally until 30 days after you request deletion.

Instagram adds that completely deleting data from your account can take up to 90 days. Even after this period, the platform may have some of your data as part of its backup.

If you don’t want to delete your account for good, deactivating your account is a good idea. It allows you to take a break from your social media life without completely deleting your account.

If you’ve decided to completely delete your account, first consider downloading your account data and unlinking your Instagram and Facebook accounts. Then follow the steps in the next section.
